Due to the calm and gentle nature of donkeys, interaction with them can provide great therapeutic value. They love all the attention they can get and are very responsive to being stroked and hugged.
Mike's Donkeys are often called upon for special visits and are used to coming along to homes and centres where the residents can get close to them and enjoy their company.
It is wonderful to see the joy that engagement with these lovely animals brings.
We are fully insured for public liability, have a full operator's licence and Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate (for working with children and vulnerable adults).
Mike's Donkeys can visit places such as:
- Residential Homes
- Centres for people with learning disabilities
- Youth Centres
- Centres for the disabled

| IMPORANT! Advice about hiring donkeys. In order to protect yourself and those participating in the event, it is advisable to check with the operator's local council to ensure they have a valid licence to work donkeys. Request to see their insurance certificate although this will be invalid without a licence. Also ask for a copy of their Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate to make sure they can work with children or vulnerable adults.
It is also a good idea to contact the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary to make sure the operator has their donkeys inspected for welfare reasons throughout the whole of the year.
