Performing onstage in production of the opera Carmen
On September 24, 2007 one of Mike's Donkeys performed in an Ellen Kent Production of the opera Carmen at the Swansea Grand Theatre.
Mike took along four donkeys for audition and, after seeing which one got used to the lights and was the happiest doing the work, chose Bella for the star treatment.
Bella is actually the mother of Dennis, who won the acclaimed Britain's Best Beach Donkey Award this year, 2007 - click here for details. Star quality must run in the family!
A spokesperson for Ellen Kent productions said: "This is to make the setting as authentic to Spain as possible and to continue Ellen Kent's support of Donkey charities. Ellen's mother ran the Spanish equivalent of the RSPCA, which saved the lives of many donkeys."
The production of Carmen, with a cast of 170, included the Chisinau National Philharmonic Orchestra and chorus.
